We used that list to identify unverified accounts that he quoted or retweeted, which we then checked for the original tweet and suspicious or bot-like activity. Here’s what we found:
1. Trump retweeted and thanked a woman named Nicole Mincey over the weekend of August 5, 2017, as was widely reported by numerous outlets. Mincey was suspected to be a bot, but was later identified by BuzzFeed and others as a real Trump supporter who was using her page to sell merchandise. It was odd for Trump to simply retweet an unknown account because, based on Media Matters’ findings, Trump typically retweets only verified accounts, such as Fox & Friends’ Twitter account or those of his staffers and family members…”

What it means when a president only caters to his base – the minority that elected him – and not the majority:
“Trump rallies his base against Russia investigation,” declared Politico. “Trump breaks from vacation to vent at media, rally his base,” informed The Boston Globe. “Trump tries to rally his base as approval rating slips,” headlined The Toronto Star.
Yes, the base. Imagine where you could vacation later in the month if you had five bucks for every media mention of that noun. Even as the president’s general support declines, including among independents, there is the apparent strategy of placating the diehards.
By coincidence, I dropped a line to Brandon Rottinghaus, a political scientist at the University of Houston. He’s co-author of the just-published “The Dual Executive: Unilateral Orders in a Separated and Shared Power System.”
He mentions mulling a notion for a paper on how presidents in partisan times seek to rally their, yes, base, in part to court their supporters in Congress. And how there’s no real attempt to reach across the aisle. He calls it “going partisan,” and it does seem rather relevant in the early Days of Trump…”
