Much has been written about Elon Musk’s troubled acquisition of Twitter and unsurprisingly, the scathing pattern of delusional maladies inflicted upon its users and ex-employees are quite revealing. When a narcissistic, self-centered right-wing billionaire who shares a lot of the same character flaws as the twice-impeached, one term minority-elect former president* he emulates, whose playbook he’s using to justify trolling everyone that hurts his feelings because his delusions make him believe he’s God’s chosen one, the truth becomes blatantly obvious.
Musk, who has a long history of erratic, destructive behavior, and a multitude of delusions about the media, has lied routinely about buying Twitter to enable free speech when all he wanted to do was turn Twitter into a Trumpian fascist authoritarian tool he could use to enable the sleazy right-wing trash he calls friends to gaslight their lies and misinformation. Given Musk’s lies about the safety of the self-driving Autopilot feature of his Tesla vehicles and a multitude of other things, and their history of being anything but safe, it should surprise absolutely no one that he lied about the intentions of his Twitter purchase as well.
Despite his claims of ‘restoring free speech’ to Twitter, Musk’s deluded actions make his claims untenable. Allowing a Treasonous former president* responsible for starting an insurrection against the U.S. Government in an illegal attempt to stay in power back on Twitter after a lifetime ban for inciting violence while banning an account that tracked his flights, journalists and other critical corporations, reveals just how much of a liar Musk is and serves as another prime example of his fantasies clashing with reality and truth. In typical Trumpian fashion, all he cares about is harming his enemies by monetizing hate, fascism, and bigotry because that’s who he is.
Musk’s lies about ‘free speech’ became more blatantly obvious with his acquisition of Twitter when he allowed right-wing trolls to spread their lies but silenced those who told the truth. More will be written about Musk’s delusional ignorance and his evisceration of Twitter as time goes by but now it’s impossible to hide the facts that he cannot be trusted, his loyalties lie in all the wrong places, and that, like his hero, he is a sore loser. Allowing feckless wastes of human flesh posing as politicians to spread their lies and conspiracy theories with total impunity reveals Musk’s true colors and intentions and Twitter may never fully recover.
Within twelve hours of Musk taking over Twitter and allegedly freeing the bird, Twitter saw increasing usage of the n-word, the site was flooded with anonymous trolls spewing racist slurs and Nazi memes, and the most engaging tweets were increasingly overtly anti-Semitic, echoing right-wing voices while the most engaging tweets not echoing right-wing fallacies were purposely being silenced, especially if you were a journalist who spoke badly of him. Indeed, there is mounting evidence that so-called left-wing and liberal voices and others speaking truth are still being purposely purged by Musk and his ilk.
MUSK’S TRUMPIAN MINI-ME TENDENCIES
Enabling communist Governments and other powerful actors, including fraudulent corporations, to function as tools for aiding and abetting propagandists while spreading their lies and vitriol with total impunity reveals Musk’s true intentions and character, and won’t bode well for him. Musk’s purchase of Twitter proved unequivocally that he is not nearly as smart as he claims he is and repeatedly confirmed the fact that he’s delusional. It also revealed that he has slithered to a level of moronic depravity devoid of morals and decency, and that he is easily swayed by the GOP’s lies.
According to a recent report from Axios, Musk’s devolution into right-wing ideologies was cemented over the last six months of 2022. For decades he supported the Democratic Party but during his Twitter acquisition decided to turn Republican, going so far as to say he’d vote for Florida Governor Ron DeSantis if he decided on a presidential bid in 2024. If you look at Musk’s actions compared to what he says, escaping the truth is impossible.
Musk isn’t a free speech warrior, and never has been. His acquisition of Twitter also resulted in his terrorizing at least one former employee – while duplicitously claiming to be a victim of doxing himself, which he apparently doesn’t know the meaning of – and anyone else who he considers to be ‘woke’ by whipping up fallacious right-wing outrage and scoring points with the wannabe demagogue trash that leads the GOP, all of which he considers friends. As with the right-wing terrorists that have supported our former minority-elect president*, the truth is irrelevant to Musk because it poses a threat to his motives. Using former, once reputable ‘reporters’ to help spread his delusions lends absolutely no credibility to his cause either.
In addition to releasing the racist Nazi Kraken, Musk managed to fire all his top executives, layoff more than 50 percent of the company – causing several more employees to leave on their own – muck up the Twitter subscription service, lose a host of advertisers, and he reinstated a multitude of accounts that had been previously banned for life for violating Twitter’s guidelines. Musk knowingly and willfully allowed the mountain of trash that comprises the right-wing on Twitter to slither back out from under their rocks and pick up right where they had left off.
Since giving all the radical right-wing MAGA miscreants free reign to spread their putrid prevarications on his quest to destroy Twitter, Musk decided he wanted to wage a war with Apple and other advertisers that he will never win, and he seems to have lost all aspects of reality along those lines as well. As noted by MSNBC, Musk loves starting fights and his disdain for reality, regulators, and his quest to be the online trolling King has revealed his penchant for gleefully antagonizing his enemies inside and outside of Twitter. Sadly, for Musk, he’s too stupid to realize that fighting with one of the largest companies in the world and the massive majority that didn’t support the previous piece of crap that was anointed the presidency despite losing the popular vote bigly isn’t going to work out well for him as other large advertisers have pulled their money out and moved elsewhere.
THE GAMES MUSK PLAYS
Although there is little if any truth to most of the desperate lies and distractions of the GOP’s Hunter Biden claims, Musk has continued trying to fan the flames of their dubious Hunter Biden laptop scandal fantasy and other rampant corrupt GOP delusions with non-starter posts that did nothing to bolster the GOP’s conspiracy theories but daunt multiple people and revealed new depths of his misguided ignorance. Musk’s lies about ‘restoring public trust’ in Twitter leading to his releasing the fabricated Hunter Biden laptop scandal and other right-wing wet dreams acknowledges the fact that he is nothing but an agent provocateur for the right-wing who will lie about anything and everything to be the center of attention.
Musk’s best attempts to gin up controversy by posting information about various right-wing fantasies for the sole purpose of fueling their delusions because he claims Twitter didn’t publish the stories prior to the 2020 election – which were nothing compared to the Treason committed by Trump and his ilk to illegally fulfill Trump’s despotic delusions of grandeur to try and rig the election and hamper Hillary Clintons campaign prior to the 2016 election – hasn’t done what he hoped it would. Musk aiding and abetting Trump by trying to cook up Russian denialism to justify illegally overthrowing the 2020 election is quite revealing.
Despite Musk’s lies about the Twitter files showing “government involvement in censoring people of Twitter”, that was not the case. In fact, Twitter catered to conservatives and right-wing extremists long before Musk’s ignorant ass purchased it. No one in the government at that time – when Trump and his cabal occupied the White House – forced Twitter to shut down the story. Twitter never published them because, among other things, they weren’t factual. Musk’s profound ignorance and provocative right-wing delusions resulted in bogus claims of the government violating the 1st Amendment, which are farcical.
The games being played by Musk now tell us even more about him, and not in a good way. In addition to the Twitter Files drop saga by Musk designed to feed the right-wing trolls that he keeps courting, he has accused Twitter of putting certain far-right accounts on a ‘blacklist,’ yet the alleged evidence doesn’t reveal any context or evidence of that. However, since Musk’s treacherous Twitter takeover, voices on the so-called ‘Left’ are being silenced, and only time will tell if they are being blacklisted or not, while Trump and company are free to spew their lies and delusions with total impunity. The more Musk reveals his true character and intentions, the more money he loses from advertisers – for obvious reasons, and it appears that anything derogatory about his feckless ass is banned.
As noted by TIME, Musk has evaded scrutiny for the past two decades and sold his fantasies as a powerful man whose faith in the combined power of technology and the market could change the world without needing a role for the government – aside from the billions in subsidies that kept his companies going over the years while avoiding paying any taxes – which only served to bolster an unaccountable and increasingly hostile billionaire. His purchase of, and more importantly, his actions since purchasing Twitter, have belied all his fantasies, and shown just how corrupt and incompetent he really is.
IT’S TIME FOR TWITLER TO GO
Using Twitter to encourage domestic terrorists, antisemitism, to follow and further enable QAnon, incite violence, spread baseless right-wing delusions while gaslighting the rest of us and allowing traitors and other trash back on Twitter that were once justifiably banned is going to end up doing more harm than good for Musk and the rest of this country. Musk’s version of ‘free speech’ is on a crash course with reality because it only applies to him and the miscreants he’s catering to, not the massive majority of those that speak truth and are capable of independent thought. Musk’s delusions have created a larger cesspool of corruption for Twitter that’s not going to stop until he decides to do something about it or steps down – which may never happen unless he’s able to unload it before it completely implodes.
Since becoming a delusional Twitter tyrant who has fallen down the right-wing rabbit hole and lost all sense of reality, Musk has forgotten that the massive majority of people he has alienated – not the disgraced former president* and the corrupt GOP Congress critters and others in his party that support him or other duplicitous conservatives, so-called evangelicals, seditionists and traitors he has embraced – are responsible for much of his wealth, especially those that buy, or used to buy, Teslas.
Elon Musk’s treacherous Twitter takeover has provided the perfect reminder of why corrupt, narcissistic billionaires whose delusions make them believe they’re God have no business being involved in politics or owning an International social media company. Only time will tell whether Twitter can survive but until then it’s obvious that we need stronger laws to protect the rest of us from the trash he’s currently serving on his private platform. It also remains to be seen whether he’ll continue emulating Trump and his ilk since he enjoys being the center of attention but eventually Musk is going to learn that there are consequences, and more often-than-not, eventual accountability for your actions.
