Makers of the Swine Flu vaccine had a very profitable year in 2009. By last June, CSL Limited’s annual profits had reportedly risen 63 percent over 2008, GlaxoSmithKline’s 2009 earnings spiked 30 percent in the third quarter alone, to $2.19 billion and Roche made 12 times more in the second quarter of 2009 than of 2008, all because of a Swine Flu pandemic that, according to a Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) investigation, was driven by collusion between the World Health Organization (WHO) and Big Pharma.
Revelations that the Swine Flu pandemic was falsely created are not new. Much was written about the creation of the pandemic when it began, questioning the accuracy and motives that were behind it.
Recently, the Council of Europe launched an investigation into whether the WHO ‘faked’ the Swine Flu pandemic in order to boost profits for vaccine manufacturers. The inquiry was held in Strasbourg, France.
Dr. Ulrich Keil, director of the WHO’s Collaborating Centre for Epidemiology, slammed his own organization and Dr. Keiji Fukuda, the WHO’s flu chief, for ‘producing angst campaigns.’ Dr. Keil says the false pandemic was completely exaggerated in contrast with all the really important matters the WHO deals with in public health.
As with SARS and the avian flu, the predictions have been completely wrong and blown out of proportion. Last year the WHO predicted that the Swine Flu could infect two billion and kill hundreds of thousands while President Obama’s advisers claimed the pandemic could infect up to 120 million Americans and kill 90,000. In reality, the Swine Flu turned out to be more mild than the regular flu.
Governments Around the World Spent Tens of Billions of Dollars on Untested Vaccines
According to WHO numbers, the type-A influenza virus has claimed 14,000 lives worldwide. The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) confirmed 4,000 deaths, but recently estimated that those numbers were under-reported and that the true death toll may be as high as 16,500. Even if the true death toll from the Swine Flu was as high as the CDC claims, that number is less than half of what the CDC attributes to deaths from seasonal flu-related illnesses every year.
Despite signs that the Swine Flu was being highly blown out of proportion, the WHO, the CDC and a multitude of other foreign and domestic health agencies continued claiming that the pandemic was growing out of control. As a result, governments around the world spent tens of billions of dollars on untested vaccines. In the U.S. alone, $2 billion was spent on vaccines and another $7.5 billion was allocated for supplemental H1N1 preparedness.
Dr. Fukuda, the WHO’s flu director, denied the accusations against the WHO, and stated clearly for the record that the influenza pandemic policies and responses recommended and taken by the WHO were not improperly influenced by the Pharmaceutical Industry, and recently the WHO issued a statement claiming allegations that it had irresponsibly stoked the H1N1 fears were scientifically wrong and historically incorrect. But were they? Not when you examine all the evidence.
To examine the accusations against the WHO, the Council of Europe (PACE) — which represents 800 million people in 47 countries — held a public meeting involving WHO officials, European drug-makers and medical experts. PACE’s findings were expected to be announced January 29, and could be followed by an in-depth study and recommendations to European governments.
With Just 144 People Dead from Swine Flu-like Symptoms, WHO Created a ‘Stage-Six Pandemic Alert’
The PACE hearing is the latest of many investigations — Danish, Russian and French officials are also investigating aspects of the Swine Flu Pandemic and drug makers. Inquiries will most likely take a long hard look at the statistical methods that were used for data collection.
The Harvard School of Public Health reportedly also found that the WHO estimated the deadliness of H1N1 to be 40 to 250 times higher than it was. The misleading data about the Swine Flu has been obvious to any one who was paying attention.
In June 2009, when the Swine Flu became the first ‘pandemic’ declared by the WHO in 42 years, it raised a lot of eyebrows. In order for WHO to declare a ‘pandemic,’ they had to redefine its meaning. One month after the appearance of the Swine Flu, WHO decided that a ‘pandemic’ does not need to cause high numbers of death or illness. A month after changing the definition — with just 144 people dead compared to the million people that were killed by the mildest 20th century pandemic — WHO classified H1N1 as a ‘stage-six pandemic alert.’
Before redefining pandemic, WHO classified a pandemic as a disease that has simultaneous epidemics worldwide with enormous numbers of deaths and illnesses. Once redefined, WHO’s website noted that pandemics can be either mild or severe in the illness and death they cause. The WHO’s actions of redefining a pandemic is noteworthy and raises a lot of questions.
Pharmaceutical Companies are Present at Meetings of WHO Experts
In addition to redefining a pandemic, the WHO quit using hard Scientific data to verify how many people were actually getting the Swine Flu, the WHO quit tracking cases of infection and told governments to stop testing and confirming individual cases of the Swine Flu, allegedly because the speed of H1N1’s spread was already confirmed.
Paul Flynn, a Parliamentary representative in the UK who spoke at PACE’s hearing said that “Rational scientific independent advice should be supreme, but there was an imperative behind this which was a financial one,” and “I am concerned WHO’s communications is corrupted by the fact they push the buttons in the public’s brains that will raise the most funds. That is incompatible with what the organization should be doing: serving the public with technically correct factual information, pure and simple.”
There have been reports that the WHO is infested with corruption from current and former high-level, long-term WHO employees. Louise Voller, a journalist at the Danish Information newspaper, reported that Pharmaceutical companies are present at meetings of WHO experts, and, that purportedly independent scientists hired by the wHO are also consultants to the drug companies that make the vaccines.
Dr. Fukuda, WHO’s flu director, insisted that WHO’s Swine Flu Scientists were not tainted by their private sector associations and that before each meeting, scientists are screened for potential conflicts of interest.
WHO’s 2008-2009 Budget Included $3.2 Billion from Voluntary Donations
How well are the scientists screened? Last July I wrote about the secrecy surrounding minutes of a key WHO meeting of an advisory vaccine group that was packed with executives from Baxter, Novartis and Sanofi in which it was recommended that compulsory vaccinations be given in the U.S., Europe and other countries.
The WHO refused to release the minutes, claiming that none were kept, of a key meeting in which the guidelines of the ‘need’ for worldwide vaccinations were formulated by the executives from those Pharmaceutical companies. One of the UK government’s top advisers — who was among the first of the ‘experts’ to call the outbreak a pandemic — was a sitting board member of GlaxoSmithKline, one of the many Pharmaceutical companies that made billions in profits courtesy of an easily created ‘pandemic.’
In addition to the apparent conflicts of interest, the WHO’s 2008-2009 budget included $3.2 billion from voluntary donations, more than three times the $958 million that was supplied to the WHO by the United Nations. Initially, the WHO was set up to rely on funding from UN member countries, but funding has been taken over by ‘voluntary contributions’ which are provided by the private sector, National governments and NGO’s. There appear to be several conflicts of interest in play at the WHO.
CSL Limited, Novartis, Sanofi Pasteur, GlaxoSmithKline and MedImmune, at the cost of taxpayers, all made huge profits when the U.S. ordered Swine Flu vaccines from them. According to British MP Paul Flynn, that was part of the drug-makers plan. Prior to being awarded any contracts, drug makers invested $4 billion in preparations for the Swine Flu. Private Research group Markets and Markets estimates that the global H1N1 vaccine market will be worth over $7 billion by 2011.
There Have Been Many Questions About the Swine Flu Pandemic Since it Began
Agencies in Canada, the UK, France, the U.S. and elsewhere guaranteed vaccine manufacturers that they would be impune from any and all lawsuits connected to the vaccines. Since they were granted impunity, the testing process was fast-tracked. In some cases, ‘trials’ on the safety of the vaccine was completed in as little as 5 days. Much has been written regarding the safety of adjuvanted vaccines and how quickly they were deemed ‘safe’ by some of the drug companies.
Such incredible profits that have been associated with the questionably created Swine Flu pandemic have sparked the shift in medicine from care to profit according to Marcia Angell, M.D., a former editor in chief of the New England Journal of Medicine and senior lecturer at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Angell also says the drug industry spent around 14 percent of sales profits on research and development in 2000 while spending closer to 35 percent on marketing and administration.
Dr. Angell claims the Pharmaceutical industry shifted from its original purpose of discovering and producing useful new drugs to being a marketing machine to sell drugs of dubious benefit. She also claims that the Pharmaceutical industry uses its wealth and power to co-opt any and every institution that could possibly stand it its way, including the U.S. Congress, the Food and Drug Administration, academic medical centers, and the medical profession itself.
With Governments and Pharmaceutical companies stoking panic by creating a pandemic and overstating estimates every time there is a flu outbreak, who is going to believe them when a vaccine really is needed? What does it say about worldwide Governments that stoke the flames of paranoia beyond reason in order to help drug makers turn billions of dollars in profits at their citizens expense?
There is a lot of evidence suggesting that Big Pharma colluded with several government entities in the U.S. and all over the world to create a Swine Flu pandemic for a virus that was bio-engineered in a laboratory. There have been many questions about the Swine Flu pandemic since it began. It’s time to get some answers.
