Welcome to my little part of the web. Hopefully you won't leave here empty handed.
As you can tell, my name is Bill. I currently reside in Northern CA with my beautiful wife and 3 new kitties. By day I’m an Office Manager for a Medical company. I am also a certified PC repair technician working on my A+ certifications (though it’s been interrupted by learning web design lately).
After spending years helping people with their computer problems and collecting all kinds of links from numerous places and searches etc., I decided that I wanted to put a site together for people who love to surf the internet and to help point people in the right directions to find the help they need or to help themselves. Hopefully one of the things you learn along the way is how to keep your computer clean of spyware and virus free. You learn really quickly how to fix things when you have to do it the hard way and when it's too late.
Another thing you learn is not to believe everything you read about on the internet or in the newspapers for that matter. You learn all kinds of things as you go along, and one day you wake up and you're no longer afraid of your computer. It becomes your friend, not a thousand dollar plus paper weight!
I decided to share some of the most helpful links I've ever had the fortune to come across when I was searching frantically for information on how to remove a home page hijacker from hell or that I came upon while researching something. I've been collecting information and useful links for years and I enjoy helping people with their computer problems in my spare time.
This site uses a little bit of Java and Javascript. There are no harmful active x controls or scripts used on this site. I update this site on a regular basis. A new edition to this page is the updates found towards the bottom of this page, and news headlines on a few other pages.
A little bit about the web site:
My Favorite Sites page has a handful of my sites I like to visit on a daily or weekly basis. I have entirely too many favorites to list on one page.
The Basic Windows Tips page has basic tips for using some of Windows built in utilities such as Check Disk, Disk Defragmenter, Windows Cleanup utility and information on cleaning temporary internet files, using System Restore and how to bypass the automatic login created when you install the .NET Framework. More tips will be added as time allows.
The 'Free' program pages started out as one page. As it progressed, it became too large to fit on one page so I broke it down into five pages. Programs include Anti-Virus, Uninstallers, desktop search tools, browser toolbars and add-ons, temporary and internet file cleaners, firewalls, graphic editors and creators, zip utilities, alternate web browsers and more. All are freeware or only request donations. If you use a free program, and appreciate what it does for you, take the time to make a donation, even if it's little. A lot of freeware software I've used works better than a lot of commercial software. The programs listed are copyright of the owner and are by no means a complete collection. They're a collection of useful free programs that several people have asked for in the past to help in their computing experiences. Most of them I have tried at one time or another. None of them contain spyware. The pages give you descriptions, pictures (if possible) and links to the programs' home page.

If I had more time I could probably break them down into at least 50 more categories. I have purposely tried not to include links that have numerous pop-ups, are harmful to your computer or are affiliated with spyware in any way. Always pay attention to what you do and click on when visiting any link and use common sense. Please feel free to pass the links along to others.
The Spyware removal aid page contains information about dealing with spyware....what it is, how to prevent it, how to remove it, useful free and commercial/shareware programs to fight it, etc. The more people that know how to fight this growing problem and that can help educate others, the better. Knowledge is the key to prevention.
The Registry tweaks and Registry info pages contain basic information about the Windows XP registry and the importance it plays in your computer operations. There is information on how to back it up and a few different tweaks that have been requested by others on a regular basis. If you have something to add please let me know. More will be added as time allows.
The Programs I use page is a partial list of programs I use on a daily or weekly basis to protect my computers as well as explanations of what they do and where to get them, and a few other programs that people might find useful. I've played with a lot of programs over the years. I love to download and tryout programs to see how effective they are for me. If I trust them and they work well, I share them with others.
